One of the things I love about fashion is that even when you bring unconventional styles together, it can still work. Clothes don't always have to match in print or be in the same color family and can still look cohesive, if that makes sense. I love mixing casual clothes with a bit of prim and proper like ripped jeans and a tweed jacket. Kind of cheeky, no?

Hope you're having a great week. Xo.

Happy Wednesday! There's something ultra feminine about wearing blush tones--it's just so pretty. I don't normally gravitate towards a "pretty" style which is probably why I don't own a lot of pink but I love the lightweight linen material of this moto jacket which is perfect for those cool summer nights. It's a nice change from the usual denim jacket/blazer, no?

Have a great week. Xo.

Hi everyone! Sorry for the week long absence--I just got back from a 6 day mini vacay to LA and taking the red eye back exhausted me yesterday. Anyway, the weather and food from the trip couldn't have been more perfect and I'll have an update from the trip soon:)

Have a great week! Xo.

There's nothing like the feeling of not having to put tights on while getting dressed in the morning because the weather is finally warm enough to do so. I was just telling a friend the other day how happy it makes me that shorts/summer dress weather is here to stay.

On another note, my apologies for the absence of posts as of late. Life has been unexpectedly busy after getting back from my trip so please be patient with me:)

Have a great week. Xo.

I've been on the hunt for a pair of loose yet fitted khaki pants (surprisingly hard to find) and was curious about the fit of the ones I'm wearing today, after seeing them look so good on my fellow petite blogger friend, Kelly from her recent post here. I ordered both the cactus and khaki colored pairs online but ended up returning the latter due to an odd fit where it was too loose on the waist yet fitted around the leg. (Kelly also had similar issues with the navy colored pair). So if you're on the hunt for for a casual pair where it can double as slim fitting pants or a boyfriend fit, I highly recommend these pair from Gap. These comfy pants are definitely coming with me on my trip to Japan this weekend;)

Have a great week. Xo.

Anorak

I picked up this Anorak jacket at the Uniqlo store in NYC while I was visiting my sister this past February and thought it would be perfect for Spring (I encouraged her to buy the military green version of it ha!) It's lightweight, hooded, water repellant (kept me dry when I wore it a couple of rainy weekends ago), and the price point was reasonable ($79). I've always been a huge fan of this store to shop for high quality basics with an affordable price tag and am happy to include this great transitional piece into my closet for Spring. Now if they would only open up a store in the DMV....

Have a great weekend. Xo.

Cheers to the last weekend of 2013! Xo.

Weekend Snapshots

This weekend I….

1. Went on a Black Friday shopping frenzy at Saks and Neiman and picked up the items I presaled earlier in the week. Thank God they gave customers the option to pre-sale this year to avoid the crazy crowds on the actual day. These are some of my favorite items I bought so far and have several more items that I bought online coming this week. I think it's time for a shopping hiatus. Again.

2. Restocked on my coffee beans from my favorite coffee shop, Stumptown Coffee, thanks to my sister who was visiting for the holiday break from NYC. I've been using these coffee beans on the daily ever since I was introduced to this brand by her and it's really hard to drink coffee from anywhere else now. You too would be converted once you take a sip of the coffee from glorious Stumptown.

3. Bought a new hydration lotion from a new to me Japanese skincare brand, Hada Labo. I initially read about this super popular brand in Elle magazine several months ago because it recently launched in the US and have been curious about the hydrator, especially since my skin is dry during the winter months. Apparently this stuff is so popular, the company claims it sells every 4 seconds in Japan. Considering it's fairly inexpensive compared to many high end skin care lines, I was quick to pick one up at Ulta. Fingers crossed it works well on my skin.

4. Spent much of my time with the family this weekend, especially since my sister was back in town. We have a couple of restaurants which we frequent when the whole family gets together, one of them being Maggiano's Little Italy (order the family style option!), which is where we dined at over the weekend. So much feasting has occurred since last week and now gym time is calling.

5. Picked up my brand new David Yurman bling from the store after receiving a call that my ring came in (my size was on order). I've been eyeing the citrine color for awhile now and am super happy with the purchase. I wore it all weekend, naturally.

How was your weekend?

Happy Friday everyone! There's something about peter pan collar shirts that remind me of preppy school girl uniforms which I love; but, pairing it with a (faux) leather skirt updates that conservative look. I love gray and red together, so naturally I gravitated towards my trusty red Chanel WOC to finish off the look;)

Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Xo.

Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce you to the newest addition to my purse family: the PS11! I've been eyeing her for over a year now and finally took the plunge when Saks was having their Friends and Family promotion and included Proenza Schouler in their designer list. This bag embodies everything I love for everyday usage: it's a cross body, there's a strong structure to it, the design is simple yet there's a definite cool factor. She will definitely be making repeat appearances on the blog;)

Have a great week! Xo.

Happy Monday everyone! Ever since cropped tops have exploded all over the pages of fashion magazines and the runways of NYFW recently, my interest in them have peaked. I'm not brave enough to wear the extremely cropped tops but was happy to discover this semi cropped sleeveless turtleneck one and (faux) leather skirt while in NYC last weekend. I actually wore this outfit to the Reward Style rooftop party that was hosted for fashion bloggers last weekend in the city but with a striped version of this top.

Keeping an outfit all black is sleek, simple, and chic which is the look I wanted for a night out. For a casual look to transition into Fall, I foresee wearing this top with a blazer and finishing the look with my favorite pair of denims.

Have you embraced the cropped top trend?

Hi everyone! The past couple of days that I've been off from work have been dedicated to getting my errands done and doing some major cleaning around the house since both have been neglected due to recent travels. I'm a fan of the laid back double denim look and it's one of those easy casual looks to put together. I wanted to break up the denim with a leopard belt so there's a small bit of print mixed in, but another option could be to add a colorful or printed scarf. A simple yet chic look that will take you from your errands to lunch/dinner with friends;)

Have a great rest of the week! Xo.

Hi everyone! There's only a couple of days left in August and pretty soon the temperatures will be much cooler and the air much crisper. Before Fall comes at us full force, I'm still going to be wearing shorts and summer clothing (weather permitting, obviously). This past weekend was the perfect opportunity to wear shorts and a sweater which is one of my favorite things to wear when I want to keep my outfit low key.

Hope you guys have a great rest of the week. As you read this, I'll most likely be on the plane to Cancun, Mexico so I am signing off for a week! Vacation mode is on. Xo.

Hi everyone! If you've noticed on today's post, I'm wearing an unusual accessory on my finger. Over the weekend, I had an accident involving glass from my Tiffany crystal bowl and ended up going to the hospital to get stitches. I'm still getting over the shock of what happened because all I did was just pick up the bowl and the entire rim just came off, which took off a big chunk of my skin. When I contacted the company about their defective product and the accident, the company's response was to give me a refund.

I am so utterly turned off by their lackadaisical response (the store manager contacted me, yet was told someone from headquarters would) that I will NOT support their business from this point on. This is the item that caused the accident so please be aware: http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP02936&mcat=148207&cid=288215&search_params=s+5-p+50-c+288215-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+

I'm just thankful that this accident didn't occur on my writing hand or that I broke anything, but until I get my stitches out in about 12 days, you'll be seeing a wound dressing on my fingers. I know it's not a fashionable accessory but please bear with me until then.

Have a great week. Xo.
