Weekend Snapshots

This weekend I...

1. Finally decided on a BB cream that's perfect for my skin. I have been testing BB creams for several months with many different cosmetic brands (Dr. Jart, Clinique, Dr. Brandt, and Dior) and really love how Boscia absorbs into my skin. It has great coverage w/o it being too heavy and though there is one color for the line, it blends perfectly well with my skin tone. I was debating between Dior's and Boscia's but ended up buying Boscia's because Dior's cosistency felt more like a foundation, which is what I didn't want since I use mineral powder on my skin. I don't like the feeling of wearing so much make up on my skin. I also picked up a new nail polish color, which I'm currently loving;)

2. Picked up some winter accessories at H&M to keep me warm from the cold weather. I received a 20% coupon off one item that is valid until 12/31 that I used HERE. Go to the last page for the coupon. Enjoy. Xo.

3. Went to Lincoln restaurant for the first time and fell in love with the space. The food is served as small plates and is meant to share which I like because you can order several things off the menu to enjoy an array of dishes. I couldn't take pics of the dishes I ordered because the lighting in the restaurant is very dim but the one pic I was able to somewhat snap was a picture of their amazing mac n' cheese and bone marrow dish. Another stand out dish was the butternut squash risotto, which had the most perfect creamy texture to it. The decor is impressive with mason jars used as lighting fixtures and pennies covering the floor of the restaurant. It's definitely a place I would come back to.

4. Went to see Twilight with my friend Mel. I've been a fan of these books since they came out so I had to see the last installment of the movie, naturally. The movies obviously don't have anything on the books but it was one of those things I had to see to close the chapter on the movies.

5. Had a craving for Poutine. My usual go to place for this junk food dish is at Victorias Gastro Pub in Columbia, Maryland. It's a French-Canadian dish that is french fries fried in duck fat then topped with cheese curds and gravy. Additional ingredients can be added and the restaurant I went to adds duck meat on top of the french fries. Not pictured is the lobster grilled cheese and escargot. Everything was decadent, delicious, and gym inducing to say the least.

Weekend Snapshots

This weekend I...

1. Went to the paint store and started looking through color swatches for my area of the room I want to paint. The overwhelming scheme of colors was a bit much but I think I've narrowed it down to to a couple of choices.

2. Bought a couple of new nail polishes from Maybelline's line, Color Show. I'm currently wearing midnight Sparkle and loving the slight sparkle it adds to the dark polish.

3. Stopped by Starbucks for their annual holiday seasonal flavors they released as of Nov.1. Nothing says the holiday is around the corner then those holiday Starbucks cups. I also wore my new YSL arty dot ring all weekend, which I picked up at the YSL sample sale in NYC a couple of weeks ago.

4. Tried out To Sok Jib in Annandale, VA at the recommendation of a friend. She told me how much she loves this hole in the wall Korean restaurant and I can see why. We wanted something warm to eat since it was so cold outside and the food delivered. The seafood pancake was more then a generous portion (and delicious) and the broth of the bean curd soup w/ tofu was savory and reminded me of my mom's version. I ordered  hand cut noodles with chicken which wasn't the best I've had, but decent. The broth was a bit bland for my taste buds and could've used a little kick but not enough to deter me from coming back again.

5. Started reading The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling. It's the author's first adult novel since her Harry Potter series. So far, I'm not the biggest fan of the book because it's a bit dull but I'm hoping the story line gets more interesting. I'm also thinking that because I've become so accustomed to her fantasy and magic she brings from the Harry Potter books, that her writing this time around isn't something I'm used to yet.

Weekend Snapshots

This weekend I....

1. Got back from vacationing in Portugal. Spain was also supposed to be included in the trip but due to the recent riots, I decided to cancel that portion of the trip. Instead, we traveled to Porto, the northern part of Portugal which was gorgeous.

2. Unpacked and did laundry. Not very exciting but it was something that needed to be done after a couple of weeks of being away.

3. Bought a couple of new nail polishes and repainted my chipped nails to this newly obsessed color from Essie called Mink Muffs.

4. Wore my new Alexander McQueen wrap around bracelet I bought at the Harrod's duty free shop in London Heathrow airport, which I'm in love with. Long live McQueen.

5. Overdosed on sushi. It was the very first thing I wanted to eat when I got back from the trip and boy was it good.

Weekend Snapshots

This weekend I....

1. Was craving chili cheese fries so I went to Ben's Chili Bowl to satisfy that craving. Ordering a half-smoke sealed the deal for a content stomach.

2. Caught up on some new magazines during "me time."

3. Restocked on my gummy vitamins. I've been taking gummy multivitamins for awhile now but noticed the grocery store had Caltrate gummy vitamins now! I know that I don't take enough calcium in my diet, which makes me fearful of getting osteoporosis down the road especially because I'm Asian and petite-framed. I know that I could take regular Caltrate pills but I love gummy vitamins. Don't judge.

4. Bought new nail polish. Essie has a new Mirror Metallic collections summer line and I absolutley love some of their new colors. I'm wearing "Good as Gold" and am obsessed.

5. Cooked some delicoius chicken parmesan this weekend using a recipe from the pioneer woman. Recipe will be posted soon.

Weekend Snapshots

This weekend I...

1.Went frame hunting and successfully found all the sizes I want so I can build my gallery wall of travel photos. All my photos are printed and now it's a matter of hanging and arranging.

2. Dined at Nava Thai in Wheaton, MD. I had a craving for Thai food and in my opinion, I this place has the best thai food in MD. There's a dish they have called the Floating Market soup where the name derives from the floating markets stall in Bangkok. It reminds me of a spicier version of Pho but the soup's broth has hints of sweet, sour, spicy and salty. Not only is the noodle in a noodle dish important, but the key player in a noodle soup dish is the broth and this dish alone will make me keep coming back.

3. Was gifted my first Butter nail polish by my friend Mel. I absolutely love this vibrant shade of teal and must admit that I probably wouldn't have bought this myself because of the price tag for a nail polish ($14), so thank you dear!

4. Stopped by my parent's house to visit them as they just got back from vacationing from Turkey and Greece. My mom bought me this gorgeous mini bowl set from Turkey which I will definitely be using as dipping sauces. She knows my taste very, very well. Thank you Mom.

5. Restocked on some lip glosses from Revlon at the drugstore. I ran out of 'Shine city' (2nd from left), a neutral gloss that is the perfect shade to put over a matte lipstick color or if you just want to add some shine to your lips. I also love 'Pink Afterglow' (1st from left) because it gives just the right amount of berry color and high gloss to your lips. Some new products from Revlon I bought were from their Just Bitten line. It reminds me of a crayon and is a balm and lipstain in one. I bought the shades, 'Twilight' and 'Flame' but unsure about the Twilight color after applying it on my lips. The Flame, however, is a great pop of red for your lips.

6. On another unrelated note, please check out one of my outfit posts that is featured today on Refinery 29's article on "7 So-Smart Tricks For Styling Summer Shorts — The Chic Way" HERE!
