Hi everyone! Sorry for the week long absence of posts--work and personal life has kept me busy but I wanted to say a quick hello and post an outfit I wore from a recent date night. With only a couple more days of August left, one of the ways I'm going to hold on to summer is by wearing shorts until I possibly can't.

Hope you're having a great week:) Xo.

A couple of weeks ago I went on a mini vacation to Los Angeles and also visited my friend Elle who recently moved out West. She was gracious enough to open up her place for a couple of days and show my sis and I around town during our stay. She's currently working as the fashion director of an online female/male clothing shop, Collection J that recently launched this week, which is where these ripped denim jeans are from. I'm usually a bit weary when it comes to denim with labels I'm not familiar with but I was pleasantly surprised with the fit, comfort, and the perfectly placed rips on the denim.

Thanks again, Elle for being so hospitable and best wishes to you on your new endeavor!

Have a great weekend. Xo.

Happy Wednesday everyone! A quick post to say hello and share with you my favorite pattern to wear during the summer--stripes. I love the nautical look when worn during the summer and it's just an easy and simple look to accomplish. But I've come to realize my closet has accumulated quite the collection of striped clothing and now have to consciously tell myself to put an article of clothing back on the rack if it has stripes on it. I can't be the only one with this problem….right?

Have a great week. Xo.

There's nothing like the feeling of not having to put tights on while getting dressed in the morning because the weather is finally warm enough to do so. I was just telling a friend the other day how happy it makes me that shorts/summer dress weather is here to stay.

On another note, my apologies for the absence of posts as of late. Life has been unexpectedly busy after getting back from my trip so please be patient with me:)

Have a great week. Xo.

Happy Wednesday everyone! It's been a busy past couple of days which is a contributor to my lack of post on my usual Monday weekend snapshots (sorry!) and a special thanks to Mel for watching my little Mandu for a couple of days:)

When life gets busy, I am a repeat offender with my outfits. I might add variations to my outfits (change out pants to a skirt or vice versa or add different accessories) like I did when I initially wore this sweater HERE. But now that the temperatures are starting to drop, I decided to layer the cropped sweater with a long sleeve button down instead of a tank to add more warmth. I'm a huge proponent of recycling the items you already have in the closet and remixing it...trust me, your wallet will thank you.

Have a great week. Xo.

Hi everyone! Hope you've been enjoying the gorgeous humidity free weather we've been having the past couple of days. This outfit was inspired by the cotton candy skies I've been seeing lately and for some reason, wearing this color palette and soft, flowy blouse is very soothing to me. Work has been super busy and a bit stressful so I welcome anything that has a calming effect.

Have a great rest of the week. Xo.

Hi everyone! Sorry for not posting my usual Weekend Snapshots this past Monday but I  decided to take a short break from it. It's starting to become a bit much on the weekends to remember to document everything I did and quite honestly, I'd rather much enjoy being in the moment with out having to remember to take a food pic, get good lighting, edit, etc, especially when I'm in the company of my friends (most of them are not bloggers). I also find myself getting annoyed if I forgot to take a pic of something I did over the weekend because then I can't really include that into the Monday post. I suppose I could but let's be honest here...an entry with out a picture is boring.

For the next couple of weeks or month my usual Weekend Snapshots posts might be replaced with either more food/outfit posts until I figure out what I want to do. Since it's become a surprisingly popular post, I don't know if I want to take it away just yet; but, in the meantime I'll be taking a break from it. Thanks in advance for being patient with me.

Wishing you a great week! Xo.

Hi everyone! After getting a lovely blowout from Blowout BarDC over the weekend, I took that as the perfect excuse to dress up a little before going out to take full advantage of my fresh, bouncy curls. I think I need to learn how to recreate these curls, no?;)

Have a great rest of the week! Xo.

Happy Wednesday! I mentioned in my recent Weekend Snapshots that I attended a luncheon hosted by Fairfax Square last Friday and this outfit was what I wore that day. I've been into floral prints lately (although you won't ever catch me in floral pants) and the vibrant colors of this skirt which also has tulle underneath to give it a full shape made it an easy decision to add this to my closet a couple months ago;)

Hope you're enjoying your week so far. Xo.

Happy Friday, friends! I am so relieved that this week is finally over and the weekend is finally here. It's been a rough week both personally and professionally but glad to see that things are starting to turn around.

I don't know about you, but it's always hard finding simple, basic items for the closet. I'm pretty particular when it comes to clothes because it has to be the right fabric/color, have interesting details, and most importantly, fit well. For awhile I've been on the hunt to find a good form fitting black skirt that actually hugs my body instead of hanging loose on the side, and since I'm petite, finding clothes that fit right can at times be annoying and difficult. I recently came across this skirt while shopping and was initially attracted because of the texture to it. It's hard to tell from the photos but it has a cool, lizard skin embossed print to it with out it being actual leather material. Details get me every time.

I'm not too familiar with this label Maje, but after doing a quick search and look of their collection on the web, I found their pieces to be simple yet edgy, playful, and cool. I approve. The fact that the skirt itself fits well on my body has my interest peaked even more for future purchases;)

Have a great weekend. Xo.

Tough Lady

Tweed jacket-J.Crew (buy HERE)

Leather (faux) shorts-F21
Shoes-Pour La Victoire (buy HERE)
Necklace-Chanel
Bracelets-David Yurman (buy HERE and HERE)
Ring-Alexis Bittar (buy HERE)

Tweed jackets are one of my favorite items in my closet. It's a staple piece that can elevate an ouftit and easily turn it into a classic look. I wanted to play with different textures today so I paired this feminine jacket with something tough and edgy on the bottom, such as leather shorts. I'm a fan of contrast whether it be pairing formal with informal or downplaying a fancy top with something casual on the bottom or vice versa and today's outfit is inspired by that.

I consider myself to be a jeans/pants kinda girl but lately I've been buying more dresses. A couple days ago, a PR person for designer Kay Unger New York invited me to the debut of their Spring collection at Neiman Marcus in Tysons Corner Galleria, VA held tomorrow from 10am-3pm. This will be their first store to debut their Spring collection in the US and the design team will be on hand to debut the line and provide personal style consultations. Unfortunately I have work commitments tomorrow so I won't be able to attend but it's open to the public.

I'm familiar with this label since their dresses are in the department stores I shop at, but have not bought pieces from this designer yet because it's mostly geared towards evening wear and truth be told I don't have that many fancy parties to attend to on the regular. However, as I was browsing their new spring collection online www.kayunger.com and www.phoebe-couture.com (a more playful spin of the line) I was intrigued. She also sent some pictures on some amazing jackets they're currently working on for their Fall collection which I'm definitely looking forward to. It involves leather and you all know how I feel about leather.

Dress images from Kay Unger New York

These are some of the dresses from their collection that caught my eye--wearable, fun, and classy. What do you think?

Whether you attend this event or not (although highly encouraged!), I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Talk soon. Xo.

Weekend Snapshots

This weekend I...

1. Got a call from my sister who told me there's an Alexis Bittar sale with jewelry priced at extra 50% off. This is one of my favorite jewelry designers (and apparently Michelle Obama's too!) so I was ecstatic to find out that the ring I've been eyeing for months has been further reduced. It's been sold out in-stores at Neiman Marcus and Saks so I thought there was no chance in getting that ring but the actual store had it in stock! Sometimes, it's worth it to be patient.

2. Went to the drug store to pick up some last minute travel essentials in preparation for my upcoming trip to Costa Rica. I'm leaving next weekend and couldn't be more happier to escape this freezing cold weather the East coast has been having and bask in 80 degree temperatures instead. Vacation countdown has officially begun.

3. Went to go eat xiao long bao (soup dumplings)at a recently discovered and opened Shanghai restaurant in Maryland. For the longest time, Maryland/DC didn't have a place that make delicious soup dumplings and I couldn't be more happier then to discover Shanghai Taste located in Rockville, MD. It's no Din Tai Fung but for now, this will satisfy my xiao long bao cravings. Warning: the menu is all in Chinese.

4. Sent out several thank you cards in the mail for friends who attended my housewarming party last weekend. All came bearing gifts and I just wanted to write them a personal note of thanks for coming. I love receiving snail mail and feel like it's a lost form of etiquette these days due to the electronic route. It definitely took some time to write all those cards but all worth it in the end.

5. Cooked dinner (Baked Ziti) using a recipe from America's Test Kitchen and invited my friend Mel and her husband over for dinner. She's been watching my dog, Mandu for the past couple of days since my parents have been on vacation and my work schedule consisted of long hours last week so I wanted to treat them both to a home cooked meal. Sunday nights are made for home cooked meals and sharing that with friends is a bonus.

How was your weekend?
