The Classics

Photos courtesy of Sung Shin

Sweater-J.Crew
Shorts-American Eagle (sold out online but similar style here)
Clutch-Prada
Sunglasses-Celine
Shoes- Loeffler Randall (old)

There's nothing like the good ol' white top/denim combo when you just want to keep it casual yet effortlessly classic--this combination never fails. I recently purchased this light summer knit from J.Crew and love the low key, relaxed look to it which is perfect to wear on cool summer nights or use as a layering piece. J.Crew calls it the "beach sweater" which pretty much epitomizes the vibe of the top.

Hope you're having a great week. Xo.

Floral Love Continued

Photos courtesy of Sung Shin

Denim jacket, tank-H&M
Skirt-Alice&Olivia (love this one here)
Shoes-Loeffler Randall (old)
Clutch-Saint Laurent
Necklace-Alexis Bittar (similar version here)
Bracelet-Hermes
Sunnies-Karen Walker

My love of florals continues with another A+O skirt I picked up a couple of weeks ago--just can't get enough of the vibrant colors from their floral prints! This version is shorter and doesn't have tulle underneath compared to the one I wore here, but the silk material is so soft and lightweight which bodes well for this current humidity we're having. It's nice to have options;)

Have a great rest of the week. Xo.

Hi everyone! These days my go to outfit choices have been picking similar shades of color for my top and bottom piece. I love the cohesiveness it brings to the outfit when playing with the same color story. I bought this J.Crew sweater about a month ago when they were having their extra 30% sale and fell in love with its soft mint color and texture. It's one of those type of sweaters that doesn't fall under a trend, but a simple classic piece that never goes out of style.

Have a wonderful rest of the week and I'll talk to you soon. Xo.

Dressed up White Tee

White shirt-H&M
Tweed skirt-J.Crew (recent)
Scarf-Banana Republic (old)
Shoes-Loeffler Randall
Purse-Prada
Cuff-Kenneth Jay Lane

Happy Friday! One of my (many) purchases from the J.Crew sale (still going on) was this beautiful tweed skirt. I'm a huge fan of tweed and always looking to add more classic pieces to my wardrobe. I wanted to pair the skirt with the classic white tee. The white tee is such a staple item that needs to be in every girl's closet because it's so versatile. I have to admit though, I'm pretty picky when it comes the white tee because I look for specifics (v-neck, pockets, loose fit, form fit, etc). This white shirt I bought last year was about $6 and has had many uses from it, especially when worn repeatedly with jeans or underneath blazers. I love the idea of dressing a plain ol' white t-shirt with a tweed skirt because mixing hi/low pieces is something I enjoy doing.

Have a great weekend. xo.

Prep

Shirt-H&M
Khaki pants-UNIQLO
Shoes-Loeffler Randall
Rings-David Yurman

This madras plaid button down has easily been one of my favorite purchases this summer. I wore it HERE with denim shorts to downplay the preppiness of the shirt but today I wanted to pair it with khaki pants to show that it can also transition into work appropriate attire. Pile on fun jewelry (or not) and you are ready to go to work dressed stylishly;)

Have a great rest of the work week.

Summer Leather

Photos courtesy of Sung Shin

Blouse-H&M
Leather shorts-Forever 21
Necklace-H&M (recent)
Shoes-Loeffler Randall
Sunglasses-Chanel

Leather in the summer can be a bit tricky. If the weather is too humid, leather can stick to your body and well, that's not exactly the most comfortable thing. I wore this outfit a couple days ago while meeting a friend for lunch when we had comfortable, sunny weather and paired it with a loose fitting linen button down. Since the colors of the outfit are neutral, I couldn't resist adding a pop of color from this recently purchased necklace bought at H&M. The gorgeous shade of blue reminds me of blue waters somewhere exotic and well that certainly says summer.

We're supposed to be getting a heat wave that's supposed to last into the weekend so these shorts will be going back into the closet but once the heat wave passes, she'll be coming out again=)

Stay cool, friends. xo.

Happy Tuesday everyone! For some reason, summer came early for the east coast yesterday because we experienced really warm temperatures. I bought these colored denim jeans a couple weeks ago and have been wearing them nonstop because they add a great pop of color to my regular denim jeans collection. It was hot enough to wear a tank top so I paired the jeans with a casual gray color so the focus would be on the fantastic color of the jeans. During the summer time, I love wearing these white framed Chanel sunnies because the white color just give offs a cool summer vibe so you'll be seeing her more as the weather warms up.

I hope you guys enjoyed the brief summer weather we had the past couple days. Thanks for visiting:)

Back To the Daily Grind

 Gingham shirt-J.Crew
Skirt, belt-Banana Republic
Bracelet-David Yurman, Neiman Marcus
Shoes-Loeffler Randall
Clutch-Lauren Merkin

Hi everyone! I'm back from a well rested vacation and ready to re-connect with you again. I'll share photos from my travel on Friday so please stay tuned=)

I recently purchased this gingham shirt from J.Crew and have been loving it so much because I see it being worn in so many different ways. Just like my love for my chambray shirt in my previous outfit posts, I see the gingham shirt being versatile, so you will be seeing the shirt show up several more times (weather permitted, of course). The gingham shirt can look fun and casual yet still look work appropriate by styling it with a pencil skirt/trousers because the pattern and bright colors gives a nice punch versus a plain, solid button down blouse.

Readers, do you have any other suggestions on how to style a gingham shirt to be work appropriate?

The weather here in DC has been acting up again. Last week it was in the high 80's and now the temperatures this week dropped into the low 60's! That in between type of weather influenced today's outfit with wearing a long sleeved blouse on top but wearing shorts for the bottom which makes it not exactly a spring outfit nor a cold weather outfit.

I didn't realize that my clothes from today's post were all from Old Navy until I started writing this post, which prompted me to think about style and cost. I bought both the blouse and shorts on clearance for an incredible price--the blouse was about $8 and the shorts were $5!! Style does not mean that you have to buy the latest trend or an expensive shirt, jeans, etc. to look fashionable. Style is how one interprets clothes by putting their own spin on it, whether it was pricey or not.

Hope you're having a great week so far. My last day of work for the week was yesterday! I'll be relaxing, running errands, replying to a bunch of neglected emails, and packing until I leave for the Bahamas in a couple of days. I have one more post to share with you before I leave so please stop by again=)
