Summer so far has been fun, busy, yet relaxing which explains the less frequent blog posting (sorry!) I've been trying to take advantage of the warm weather with outdoor activities such as hiking, trying to get back into golfing, bike shopping (more on that later) and dining al fresco at several new to me restaurants in the DMV area with my nearest and dearest. Although I'm positive the wanting to dine al fresco will promptly change to just wanting to be inside a full on AC blasting restaurant with the recent humidity we've been experiencing around here. Not cute. Anyway, I promise to be better about updating more starting with a new "Weekend Snapshots" post on Monday:)

Hope you're having a great week. Xo.

Happy Wednesday everyone! A quick post to say hello and share with you my favorite pattern to wear during the summer--stripes. I love the nautical look when worn during the summer and it's just an easy and simple look to accomplish. But I've come to realize my closet has accumulated quite the collection of striped clothing and now have to consciously tell myself to put an article of clothing back on the rack if it has stripes on it. I can't be the only one with this problem….right?

Have a great week. Xo.

There's nothing like the feeling of not having to put tights on while getting dressed in the morning because the weather is finally warm enough to do so. I was just telling a friend the other day how happy it makes me that shorts/summer dress weather is here to stay.

On another note, my apologies for the absence of posts as of late. Life has been unexpectedly busy after getting back from my trip so please be patient with me:)

Have a great week. Xo.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to say a quick hello after being away from the blog for a couple of weeks while on vacation. I got back from Japan a couple of days ago and have been trying to adjust to getting over some major jet lag. I ended up sleeping for 17 hrs straight when I got back which is just crazy because I think that's only happened once in my life back during college. Anyway, the trip to Japan was truly amazing and I have so many pics to sort through and will hopefully get around to at least sharing the ones I have from my phone next week.

Have a great weekend! Xo.

I've been on the hunt for a pair of loose yet fitted khaki pants (surprisingly hard to find) and was curious about the fit of the ones I'm wearing today, after seeing them look so good on my fellow petite blogger friend, Kelly from her recent post here. I ordered both the cactus and khaki colored pairs online but ended up returning the latter due to an odd fit where it was too loose on the waist yet fitted around the leg. (Kelly also had similar issues with the navy colored pair). So if you're on the hunt for for a casual pair where it can double as slim fitting pants or a boyfriend fit, I highly recommend these pair from Gap. These comfy pants are definitely coming with me on my trip to Japan this weekend;)

Have a great week. Xo.

Cut Out

I love unexpected updates to an otherwise conventional clothing item such as a simple button down blouse. The cut outs on the sleeves make it perfect to wear for either date night or a girls night out with your dearests. The blouse is sexy with out it being too revealing but most importantly, the color pairings are also a friendly reminder to myself that Spring is right around the corner:)

Have a great rest of the week. Xo.

Happy Friday! One of the colors schemes I fell in love with over fall/winter was pairing black and blue together which is something I will carry through all seasons. I wanted to have pops of black show up from accessories in my outfit while paired against this super comfy and simple navy sweatshirt I bought last week. Comfy top, cut offs, and Chanel? This is basically my summer uniform;)

Have a great weekend. Xo.

Happy Friday! Just a quick hello to wish you a great weekend that hopefully includes a bit of sparkle. The weekend couldn't come soon enough for me because it's been extremely busy work wise and it doesn't look like it will be slowing down anytime soon. There's going to be changes in the horizon and am looking forward to progressing and challenging myself in my professional career. Will share with you more in details soon.

In the meantime, I am going to use this weekend to finally relax and purposely do nothing in particular (but after tonight's dinner I'm hosting for friends!) and am totally okay with that decision. I really am.

Have a great weekend. Xo.

One of the trends for Spring 2013 is stripes which is pretty exciting since I'm already a fan of anything striped. They are timeless, classic, and versatile when putting together outfits. I've been loving striped blazers lately and wanted to pair my recent purchase with another striped piece underneath. In order to avoid the outfit from looking too dizzy, I wore the reverse striped colors underneath and injected it with a bit of color from a belt to help break apart all the horizontal lines. A pop of yellow is also a happy reminder that Spring is almost here;)

What trends are you looking forward to most for Spring?

Happy Friday, friends! I am so relieved that this week is finally over and the weekend is finally here. It's been a rough week both personally and professionally but glad to see that things are starting to turn around.

I don't know about you, but it's always hard finding simple, basic items for the closet. I'm pretty particular when it comes to clothes because it has to be the right fabric/color, have interesting details, and most importantly, fit well. For awhile I've been on the hunt to find a good form fitting black skirt that actually hugs my body instead of hanging loose on the side, and since I'm petite, finding clothes that fit right can at times be annoying and difficult. I recently came across this skirt while shopping and was initially attracted because of the texture to it. It's hard to tell from the photos but it has a cool, lizard skin embossed print to it with out it being actual leather material. Details get me every time.

I'm not too familiar with this label Maje, but after doing a quick search and look of their collection on the web, I found their pieces to be simple yet edgy, playful, and cool. I approve. The fact that the skirt itself fits well on my body has my interest peaked even more for future purchases;)

Have a great weekend. Xo.

Tweed jackets are one of my favorite items in my closet. It's a staple piece that can elevate an ouftit and easily turn it into a classic look. I wanted to play with different textures today so I paired this feminine jacket with something tough and edgy on the bottom, such as leather shorts. I'm a fan of contrast whether it be pairing formal with informal or downplaying a fancy top with something casual on the bottom or vice versa and today's outfit is inspired by that.

I consider myself to be a jeans/pants kinda girl but lately I've been buying more dresses. A couple days ago, a PR person for designer Kay Unger New York invited me to the debut of their Spring collection at Neiman Marcus in Tysons Corner Galleria, VA held tomorrow from 10am-3pm. This will be their first store to debut their Spring collection in the US and the design team will be on hand to debut the line and provide personal style consultations. Unfortunately I have work commitments tomorrow so I won't be able to attend but it's open to the public.

I'm familiar with this label since their dresses are in the department stores I shop at, but have not bought pieces from this designer yet because it's mostly geared towards evening wear and truth be told I don't have that many fancy parties to attend to on the regular. However, as I was browsing their new spring collection online www.kayunger.com and www.phoebe-couture.com (a more playful spin of the line) I was intrigued. She also sent some pictures on some amazing jackets they're currently working on for their Fall collection which I'm definitely looking forward to. It involves leather and you all know how I feel about leather.

These are some of the dresses from their collection that caught my eye--wearable, fun, and classy. What do you think?

Whether you attend this event or not (although highly encouraged!), I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Talk soon. Xo.

Happy Wednesday! Nothing like a mid morning coffee pick me up to get me through the day. After working 14 hours yesterday, I am exhausted. I'll be running some last minutes holiday errands on my day off by wearing something bright such as my new blazer with a cup of coffee on hand to keep me energized;)

Talk to you soon and thanks SO much for visiting. Xo.

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Mine was filled with lots of family time and Black Friday shopping. I think I've finally recovered from the Black Friday shopping yesterday and have been relaxing and prepping for this upcoming week. I don't go back to work until Thursday but I have some home improvement projects I'll be working on this week during this mini vacation.

I recently bought this cheetah fur jacket because I'm a fan of leopard/cheetah print and this is the type of jacket that just speaks for itself. It's one of those easy to wear pieces that you can pair with jeans and voila, there is your no fuss, yet stylish outfit for running errands/meeting friends.

Hope you're having a relaxing Sunday before heading back to work tomorrow. Xo.

Happy post election day! Hope your week is going more smoothly than mine. A couple of days ago I started having intense pain on my bottom molar tooth which prompted me to go to my dentist immediately to find out that I have an infection in my nerve. I don't know about you but this is the first time I've ever experienced a toothache this bad and had no idea how much it can affect your daily routine. It hurts to chew (I've been on a liquid diet the last couple of days, ugh) and it pretty much puts me in a sour mood. I have to get a root canal done tomorrow which somehow worked out because today is the first day of my week long staycation. In the meantime, the dentist put me on a pain med which has pretty much been the BEST. THING.EVER. I never thought I'd be saying that because I encounter drug addicts from time to time at work but good grief this stuff really is wonderful. On the flip side of things, since I'm off from work for a week I can at least get the procedure done and rest w/o it interfering with work. Glass half full.

Have a great rest of the week and I'll talk to you soon. Xo.

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you enjoyed your weekend. I apologize for the lack of post last week so instead, I wanted to do a quick post today. I've been putting in longer hours at work last week (worked 40 hours within 3 days) and I was too tired to edit and prepare a post for you on Friday. As much as I love blogging, I never would want to compromise my personal health for it, so hope you understand.

Anyway, I'm usually not one to wear all black but I really wanted to pair these leather pants with an all black ensemble to give the outfit a chic vibe. The trick to wearing all black from head to toe is mixing textures. The only pop of color I wanted to come from this outfit was from my Hermes cuff and the color is fitting to the Fall season, no?;)

Washington, DC received a blast of cold air this past weekend which hopefully isn't a precursor for a harsh winter to come. But until winter is officially here, I'll be enjoying the Fall weather and its surroundings around me.

Have a great rest of the weekend. Xo.

Happy Wednesday/Halloween everyone! Hope you survived Hurricane Sandy if your area encountered it. The East coast got hit hard with the hurricane and the DMV area suffered from it with flooded roads and lost electricity. I keep reading and seeing these updated reports and horrifying images from the major impact the hurricane had on NY/New Jersey and it's a definite wake up call to be thankful that this area wasn't on that same level of disaster. Praying for those that the road to recovery is a fast one.

Wishing you a safe and warm rest of the week. Xo.
